READING
PODCASTS + POEMS
Poetry Unbound Podcast with Padraig O’Tuama
Series ‘Poems as Teachers’ - poems that have something to teach us about conflict and humanity- these episodes are only ever a max of 15-20 minutes long- one of my absolute favourites.
Be Earth Now: Rainer Maria Rilke Recited by Joanna Macy and Anita Barrows
In The Book of Hours: Love Poems to God, Rainer Maria Rilke explores the nature of God through divinely “received” prayers. Reciting a selection of these poems, Anita Barrows and Joanna Macy bring the spirit of Rilke’s words fully into our time, reminding us of the ever-urgent call to love the world into being.
Being with Love, Death and Grief: Tara Brach and Frank Ostaseski
Grief is our natural way of expressing loss for what we love, and learning to open to grief serves the deepening and widening of our loving. Includes short meditations and talks by Frank and Tara
Sophie Strand and Kimberly Ann Johnson on ‘Sex, Birth and Trauma’
Two of my maha guides on this path
“They wonder aloud together about the various roles of knowledge, expertise, and experience and discuss issues such as psychedelics for women, the complexities of social media, the need for eldership, disability and sickness as an altered state, as well as healing practices outside of a hyper-fixated and individualistic framework.”
Padraig O’Tuama (one of my favourite Irish poets) on ‘For the Wild’
Ayana and Pádraig explore the language of uncommon belonging; how we must learn from our shame and the danger of forgetting history, the life cycle of violence, the nature of colonial power, the poetic origins of violence embedded in policy, and how to confront the inheritance of privilege.
‘On Being’- Underland Episode, exploring landscape and the human heart
Robert Macfarlane — The Worlds Beneath Our Feet “Since before we were Homo sapiens, humans have been seeking out spaces of darkness in which to find and make meaning.”
Jeannie Zandi (one of my foundational meditation teachers) ‘Bliss + Grit’ on Embodying Yin
What true power looks like, the imbalances our culture has perpetuated, what healing would look like through the lens of yin and how we can move forward together in
Bayo Akololafe on Slowing Down in Urgent Times on ‘For the Wild’
Plunging into deep pools of philosophy and imagination, Ayana and Bayo’s conversation winds through dimensions of the new and the ancient: Yoruba mythology, children as guides to bewilderment, the strategy of separation, grieving as ceremony, trickster spirits, and the teachings of failure.
Daniel Foor on Ancestral Reverance as Devotion to Earth
Your body is your ancestor altar, how hungry ghosts affect the living, the earth as the repository of ancestral wisdom, & more...

Thursday- we finish with brunch and leave Dolphin Beach by 11am
PACKING LIST
Allow the intention of deepening your practice to be at the forefront of your mind as you pack your bags. “How can my Yoga Nidra, movement and seated practices feel as good as they do at home while I travel?”
We may have some rain and it can be chilly in the mornings and evenings or when the sun hides. Think summer clothes with added hoodies, medium warm, soft, comfortable layers and a jacket for chilly moments.
Waterproof outerwear for nature walks
Swimsuit
Footwear: Athletic shoes/ trainers for walking. Sandals. Comfy socks. (if you’re travelling from afar there’s no need for big hiking boots)
Musical Instruments
A notebook, journal + pen
Yoga mat
Good size water bottle
Toiletries including suncream
Special dietary needs, comfort items; vitamins, etc.
If you’re travelling from another country it's probably a good idea to let your bank know in advance so you won't have any card issues.
Ireland uses different plugs to the US so bring a couple of adaptors or a power strip for all your electronics.
Clifden
Dolphin Beach is a ten-minute drive from the lovely town of Clifden. Clifden has a Supervalu for any of the bits you forget to bring and is packed full of fabulous restaurants.
Galway/ CLARE
Galway City is lovely, really atmospheric- Plenty of food options, some decent shopping and the option to explore Connemara to the north which is one of my favorite parts of Ireland. Check out this bus company offering day trips.
The Burren
Doolin to Inis Mór by boat (by way of the Cliffs of Moher)
Connemara National Park
Dublin City
I’ve destroyed this map of Dublin city center with black lines and circles showing places that I would happily stroll around and enjoy all day. There are cafes and cute shops everywhere.
Transport Info for for those visiting from other countries
Irish Rail (trains) it's not possible to reach all parts of Ireland by train but there are trains to all the major cities. The three major stations in Dublin city centre are Hueston, Pearse and Connolly.
Taxis download the ‘FreeNow’ app (our equivalent to Uber)
Bus Eireann (buses) is really convenient and budget friendly. The main bus depot in Dublin is called Bus Aras.
Transport in Dublin
Dublin is exceptionally bus friendly. The DART and LUAS are also excellent ways to travel. Here's a great article that breaks it all down as well as information on buying a LEAP card (the travel card that you can use for all transport besides taxis in Dublin)
